From September 28 to October 5, 2025<\/strong>, Monterosso al Mare will host the extraordinary descent of the Madonna di Soviore<\/strong>.
This rare and moving event combines faith, history, and community. Moreover, it is deeply rooted in ancient traditions and preserves the spiritual identity of the Cinque Terre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The legend of the Madonna di Soviore<\/h4>\n

The story of the Madonna di Soviore is filled with charm and symbolism. During the Lombard invasion led by King Rotari, the villagers decided to hide the wooden statue of the Virgin to protect it from destruction.
Later, according to tradition, a dove guided the people to its discovery. From that moment, the statue became a symbol of protection and hope<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This legend has been passed down for centuries and has strengthened collective devotion. Indeed, it continues to inspire strong participation even today. As a result, the feast is not only a historical memory but also a living ritual shared by the entire community.<\/p>\n

A procession every 25 years<\/h4>\n

The celebration of the Madonna di Soviore<\/strong> is at the heart of Monterosso\u2019s identity. Every twenty-five years, the statue is carried in procession along the paths of the village.
The journey leads to the Church of San Giovanni Battista<\/strong>, the religious and communal heart of Monterosso.<\/p>\n

This ancient tradition originates from a papal bull issued in 1749. Since then, it has kept its strength, uniting generations. Consequently, the procession has become a bridge between past and present and offers a unique spiritual experience.<\/p>\n
