Soviore Feast August 14–15, 2025
Hiking to Soviore: A journey through time and spirituality

Hiking to Soviore, in the Cinque Terre, feels like stepping into another era. From the heart of Monterosso, a scenic trail winds its way through the fragrant scent of rosemary and the rhythmic song of cicadas. The path climbs into a quiet, atmospheric forest, where ancient stone steps and dry-stone walls tell centuries-old stories of pilgrims and travelers seeking peace, refuge, or a place to give thanks.

The sanctuary of our lady of Soviore

The sanctuary of our lady of Soviore is the oldest Marian shrine in Liguria, dating back to the Middle Ages. For centuries, it has been a spiritual landmark for the coastal and inland communities. Inside, visitors can admire valuable works of art, including the ancient wooden statue of the Madonna and Child — a symbol of protection and hope for the faithful.

Soviore Feast August 14–15, 2025

On August 14 and 15, 2025, Monterosso celebrates the Feast of our lady of Soviore. For two days, locals and visitors walk among forests and dry-stone walls, climbing up to the sanctuary. This is a unique moment of tradition, devotion, and community, set in the heart of the Cinque Terre National Park.

How to get to the sanctuary

  • On foot: The Monterosso trail takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, surrounded by Mediterranean scrubland and offering panoramic views of the sea and terraced hills.

  • By bus: On August 15, a free shuttle service will run from Piazza Garibaldi to the sanctuary, both in the morning and afternoon.

Visiting Soviore means experiencing an authentic journey into nature, art, and spirituality, in one of the most enchanting places of the Cinque Terre.
