Cinque Terre Walking Park: hikes and tours from October 1 to 7, 2026

The Cinque Terre Walking Park offers a new week of hikes from October 1 to 7, 2026. The program includes hikes, guided tours and nature experiences.

These activities let you discover the Cinque Terre through trails, villages, vineyards and terraces. Some hikes also explore the area’s geology.

This guide includes all the information you need. You will find dates, times, meeting points, duration, difficulty and routes.

Cinque Terre Walking Park: the program from October 1 to 7

The new Cinque Terre Walking Park program includes seven events. The activities take place in Monterosso, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Riomaggiore.

There are challenging hikes and easy tours suitable for everyone. Therefore, always check the difficulty before choosing your activity.

Punta Mesco hike on October 1

Geology of Punta Mesco

On Thursday, October 1, the Cinque Terre Walking Park offers the Geology of Punta Mesco hike.

The circular route starts in Monterosso. It crosses vineyards, olive groves and different rock formations.

  • Route: Monterosso railway station – Monterosso Fegina – CAI 572 – Sella Bagari – CAI 591 – Sant’Antonio al Mesco – CAI 590/SVA – Monterosso Fegina

The route reaches Sella Bagari, at around 380 metres above sea level. From here, you can enjoy views over the Monterosso and Levanto valleys.

The hike also crosses different rock formations. At Sant’Antonio al Mesco, you can see the ruins of the ancient monastery.

The trail then descends towards Monterosso. The hike ends at the Giant Beach.

Hiking shoes are mandatory for this activity.

Corniglia: tour on October 2

Centuries-old traditions, history and culture

On Friday, October 2, the Cinque Terre Walking Park offers a guided tour of Corniglia.

The tour explores the history, art and culture of the village. The activity is easy and suitable for everyone.

The tour starts at Corniglia railway station. From here, the group follows the famous Lardarina staircase.

The staircase has 377 steps. It leads directly to the village.

The guide then takes participants through the streets of Corniglia. The tour focuses on the main historical, artistic and cultural features.

No hiking trail is included. However, comfortable clothing and sports shoes are recommended.

Missanega hike on October 3

Among olive trees and citrus groves

On Saturday, October 3, the program offers the Among Olive Trees and Citrus Groves hike.

The route starts in Monterosso and reaches the Missanega Farm.

  • Route: Monterosso – trail 509 – SP38 – Missanega Farm – Monterosso

The hike starts from the Fegina seafront. The route climbs along trail 509.

The group then continues along the SP38 provincial road. After about ten minutes, it reaches Missanega Farm.

The visit introduces participants to the farm and the agricultural landscape of Monterosso.

There is also an optional tasting of local products. The tasting is available for an additional fee.

Hiking shoes are mandatory for this hike. Good physical condition is also recommended.

Among vineyards: La Via dei Ciàn

Manarola, Volastra and Corniglia on October 4

On Sunday, October 4, the Cinque Terre Walking Park offers La Via dei Ciàn.

The hike connects Manarola and Corniglia through Volastra. The route explores the traditional vineyards of the Cinque Terre.

The route crosses the ciàn, the traditional terraces where vines are grown.

From Manarola, the trail climbs towards Volastra. Here, you can see ancient olive trees and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Health.

The route continues towards Costa da Posa. The trail offers views over the coast and the vineyards of the Cinque Terre.

The final section leads towards Corniglia along an ancient mule track.

The hike is free and does not require a Cinque Terre Card. Registration is mandatory.

Hiking shoes are mandatory.

Vernazza and Monterosso on October 5

Sunset tour between history and villages

On Monday, October 5, the Cinque Terre Walking Park offers the Between Myth and History tour.

The guided visit connects Vernazza and Monterosso. The group travels between the two villages by train.

Geological hike on October 6

A 30-million-year geological story

On Tuesday, October 6, the Cinque Terre Walking Park offers a hike between Manarola and Riomaggiore.

The hike focuses on the area’s geodiversity. The event also coincides with the Park’s anniversary and International Geodiversity Day.

Route: Manarola railway station – pedestrian tunnel – Belvedere – Artagiaia – Baluardo – Manarola marina – CAI 502C – San Lorenzo – Via dell’Amore – Riomaggiore railway station – cliff path – Riomaggiore marina.

The route crosses the vineyards of Manarola. It then reaches the Via dell’Amore.

The guide explains the geological history of the area. Participants can observe sandstone and other characteristic rock formations.

The hike also includes the Vertical Stratification of Riomaggiore geosite.

The hike ends at the Riomaggiore harbour. Hiking shoes are mandatory.

Corniglia: tour on October 7

History, art and culture of the village

On Wednesday, October 7, the Cinque Terre Walking Park ends the week with another guided tour of Corniglia.

The event offers another opportunity to discover the village’s history and culture.

Which hike should you choose?

The program offers very different experiences. Your choice depends on the type of activity you prefer.

For a challenging hike, you can choose Punta Mesco or La Via dei Ciàn.

For an intermediate hiking route, choose Missanega or the geological hike on October 6.

If you prefer an easy activity, choose Corniglia. The Vernazza and Monterosso tour is also easy and suitable for everyone.

This way, you can experience the Park according to your interests and fitness level.
