The extraordinary story of the lighted nativity scene \/ Giving a face to the Cinque Terre<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

With the project \u00ab\u00a0Giving a face to the Cinque Terre\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>, we went to Manarola<\/strong> to tell the story of the lighted nativity scene, a symbol of dedication and love for the territory. Thanks to the words of Eugenio Bordoni<\/strong>, a member of the Associazione Presepe di Manarola Mario Andreoli, we discovered fascinating details about this timeless tradition.<\/p>\n

An idea born from a promise<\/h3>\n

It all started in 1961 when Mario Andreoli<\/strong> lit three lights at the top of the hill to keep a promise made to his father. Since then, using recycled materials and tireless work, Mario has turned that promise into a work of over 300 lighted figures<\/strong>, a unique example in the world.<\/p>\n

A collective effort<\/h3>\n

Today, the Associazione Presepe di Manarola Mario Andreoli<\/strong>, along with a network of local volunteers, continues this project. Every year, starting in October, they repair figures, test kilometers of light cables, and clean the terraces that host the nativity scene.<\/p>\n

A timeless symbol of values<\/h3>\n

As Eugenio told us: \u00ab\u00a0More than a religious matter, the nativity represents the example of a person who believed in a dream, dedicating time and sacrifices to create something that leaves a mark on the collective memory of all.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

A call for the future<\/h3>\n

The association sends out a message: the nativity needs new hands<\/strong>, and invites volunteers from all over the Cinque Terre \u2013 and beyond \u2013 to join the project in the coming editions. The magic of this tradition lives on thanks to those who preserve it.<\/p>\n

An unforgettable appointment<\/h3>\n

This year, the nativity scene will be lit from December 8th to January 12th<\/strong>, every evening from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM (until midnight on Sundays). It is not just a local event, but a symbol of community, supported by the Municipality of Riomaggiore<\/strong><\/a> and the Cinque Terre National Park \u2013 Marine Protected Area<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
