Two days ago, we joined one of the most fascinating hikes in the Cinque Terre Walking Park<\/strong>, walking from Manarola<\/strong> to Groppo<\/strong>. This adventure combines nature, history, and tradition. We visited the Cinque Terre Social Winery<\/strong>, a place that is much more than just a production site; it is a community hub.<\/p>\n

Cinque Terre\u2019s terraced landscape: history and resilience<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Our journey led us through a vertical landscape, cultivated on dry stone walls<\/strong>, telling the story of persistent efforts against abandonment. Every inch of soil is the result of the ingenuity and resilience<\/strong> of the people who have cultivated these challenging lands for generations.<\/p>\n

The Cinque Terre Social Winery<\/strong> is more than just a production facility; it is a community landmark. It brings together the work of many small local producers, preserving terraces<\/strong> reclaimed from neglect and offering opportunities for people wanting to get their hands back in the earth. It is a project deeply embedded in the history of Cinque Terre.<\/p>\n

Women, history, and prevention projects<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We had the chance to speak with locals who live the land every day. They shared the stories of women<\/strong> who, after the war, kept the vineyards alive despite the challenges. Another key topic was the Stonewallsforlife<\/strong> project, initiated after the flood to prevent landslides and other disasters by maintaining the dry stone walls.<\/p>\n

The true history of Cinque Terre<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Cinque Terre is not just a tourist destination, it is a story<\/strong> that you can read on the walls of churches, through place names, and in the tales of those who can tell the difference between the sea breeze that caresses the vines. It\u2019s a unique place where wine \u201cfalls in love\u201d with the plants around it, smelling of broom, rosemary, valerian, and light.<\/p>\n

At the end of the hike, we had the pleasure of tasting the famous Cinque Terre DOC whites<\/strong>, including labels like Cian Auti<\/strong> and Costa de Campu<\/strong>. Each sip tells the story of a landscape that can be felt, a tale of passion, tradition, and authenticity.<\/p>\n
